Horse Feathers (1932)
The MAD Movie-A-Thon-O-Rama kicks off the new year with a trip back to 1932 for one of the greatest sports movies featuring the Marx Brothers ever made- Horse Feathers! Professor Quincy Adams Wagstaff (Groucho Marx) is the newly appointed president of Huxley College. He hires two goofs, Baravellii (Chico Marx) and Pinky (Harpo Marx) to ensure the football team wins games. Wagstaff stays busy between romancing faculty widow Connie Bailey (Thelma Todd) and encouraging his lazy son Frank Wagstaff (Zeppo Marx) to clean up his act and hit the books. Everything is on the line the day of the big game. Horse Feathers was made before the MPA's rating code but does feature adult situations and humor, gratuitous Groucho, gratuitous Chico, gratuitous slapstick, smoking, drinking, and painted on eyebrows and mustache. The auditorium opens at 6:00 p.m. and the movie begins at 6:30 p.m. Food and drink will be allowed in the auditorium during the movie. 68 Minutes.
