TAG: The Assassination Game (1982)
The MAD Movie-A-Thon-O-Rama celebrates the Golden Age of home video with this VHS screening of Nick Castle's TAG: The Assassination Game! The Assassination Game was played on college campuses. Players received a dossier about their opponent and then tried to stealthily take out their target and score points. It's when slightly unstable player Loren Gersh (Bruce Abbott) stops using the harmless dart gun he was issued that the game turns deadly. Directed by the guy who played Michael Myers in the original Halloween (1978), TAG: The Assassination Game is a twisty, fast moving action-comedy where players try to stay one step ahead of a real killer. The cast includes Robert Carradine, Linda Hamilton, Kristen DeBell, Perry Lang and the guy who made all the funny noises in Police Academy (1984), Michael Winslow. Somehow, this movie has gotten lost to time, as it was never released on any other home video format after its VHS release. TAG: The Assassination Game was Rated PG by the standards of 1982. It contains adult language, situations and humor, gratuitous cat-and-mouse, gratuitous guy from Police Academy making funny noises, and scenes of stalking. The Auditorium opens at 6:00 p.m. and the movie begins at 6:30 p.m. Food and drink are allowed in the auditorium during the movie. 90 minutes.
