Classic Pages Book Club
Tuesday, July 8, 2025 6 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Exposure to classic literature allows readers to gain an understanding of the world and helps readers navigate the complexities of modern life. Classic Pages Book Club features classic novels and novellas published around the world since the 1800s.
The Classic Pages Book Club selection for July is The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Brontë. In The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, Helen Graham, a mysterious young widow, moves into Wildfell Hall with her son. Inspired by gossip and societal scrutiny, Gilbert Markham, a local farmer, becomes intrigued and seeks to uncover her secrets.
Anne Brontë, the lesser known of her sisters, often explored personal autonomy, societal expectations, and moral integrity in her novels. While her characters are constrained by the roles society expects them to fill, they are also aware of their own needs and yearnings.
