In 1961, the Freedom Riders—civil rights activists, both Black and white—rode interstate buses into the segregated Southern United States to challenge the non-enforcement of Supreme Court rulings that declared segregated buses unconstitutional. They faced brutal violence and arrests, drawing national attention to the civil rights movement and prompting federal action.

Presented by David Lilly and LearningQuest.

Auditorium, Downtown Huntsville Public Library
