Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass by Frederick Douglass

This is the unforgettable true story of one man’s journey from bondage to freedom. Born into slavery, Douglass defied the oppressive system that sought to silence him, learning to read and write in secret and daring to dream of a life beyond the chains. With striking honesty and eloquence, Douglass recounts the brutal conditions of his early years, the emotional and physical toll of enslavement, and the bold escape that changed his life—and the course of history. His narrative is not only a deeply personal memoir but also a forceful indictment of slavery and a tribute to the resilience of the human spirit.
