The Plot Thickens
Thursday, August 6, 2026 6 p.m. – 7:45 p.m.
Are you someone who enjoys playing detective? Do you stay up late reading to find out who the killer is? Well, this is the book club for you. We read a variety of the mystery genre from cozies to psychological suspense.
This month we are discussing locked room mysteries!
Locked room mysteries date back to when detective fiction first came into existence with Edgar Allan Poe's short story, "The Murders in the Rue Morgue," in 1841. What defines a locked room mystery is just what it sounds like: a crime, usually murder, is committed within a concealed room with no possible entry or exit for the murderer. It sounds like an impossible crime, but there is always an explanation, even if it may sound stranger than fiction.
Read any book classified as a locked room mystery and join us to discuss your thoughts. Even if you're more of a movie buff, come and share your favorite movie featuring a locked room crime.
Next month we are reading The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides!
The Plot Thickens meets on the 1st Thursday of the month in the 2nd Floor Workforce Development Classroom at 6pm.
