International Art Day - Extended Open Art!
Tuesday, September 15, 2026 1 p.m. – 5:45 p.m.
Celebrate International Dot Day with a casual self-guided art activity!
International Dot Day, a global celebration of creativity, courage and collaboration, began when teacher Terry Shay introduced his classroom to Peter H. Reynolds’ book The Dot on September 15, 2009. The Dot is the story of a caring teacher who dares a doubting student to trust in her own abilities by being brave enough to “make her mark”. What begins with a small dot on a piece of paper becomes a breakthrough in confidence and courage, igniting a journey of self-discovery and sharing, which has gone on to inspire countless children and adults around the globe. Triana Public Library is making this open art day DOT DAY and encourages all families to come and celebrate this wonderful book by creating art with us!
Pop in any time after 2:00pm for an all-ages art afternoon. We provide the supplies and YOU bring the creativity! Some examples of activities will include watercolor, oil pastels, and paint markers. There will examples to look to for ideas, but you are free to make whatever art you want with the supplies!
NOTE: While this is an all-ages program, young children will need their adult guardian to assist them with the supplies.
