Bicycle Thieves (Italy, 1948)
A man desperate to support his family finally gets a job, only for his bicycle, which he needs for work, to be stolen on his first day. Unable to afford a new one, he and his young son embark on a quest through post-WWII Rome to find and recover it.
Bicycle Thieves, long known in English as The Bicycle Thief, is considered one of the absolute masterpieces of world cinema, written and directed by Vittorio Di Sica, perhaps the single most important director in Italian Neo-Realism, one of the most important movements in film history.
