The Hudsucker Proxy (1994) [PG]
In this homage to the screwball comedies of the 1930s and ‘40s, a workingman finds a job in the mail-room of Hudsucker Industries, but the board of directors, seeking a hapless patsy that they can use to control the value of the company’s stocks, suddenly promote him to the role of the company president; the next few weeks unfold like a whirlwind, building to the fateful moment when the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve, 1958.
The Hudsucker Proxy was directed by the Coen brothers, written by the Coen brothers and Sam Raimi, and stars Tim Robbins, Paul Newman, and Jennifer Jason Leigh.
