July’s first film will be from the 60s: The Sound of Music
The Sound of Music is a 1965 American musical film directed by Robert Wise, based on the Broadway musical by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. The film stars Julie Andrews as Maria, a spirited young woman who becomes the governess to the seven children of the widowed Captain Georg von Trapp, played by Christopher Plummer. Through music, warmth, and resilience, Maria brings joy back into the family’s life as Austria faces the growing threat of Nazi occupation. Featuring unforgettable songs and sweeping Alpine scenery, the film blends romance, history, and hope, and remains one of the most cherished musicals in cinema history.
