Finding Donna: My Great Big Dinosaur Adventure with Jim Braswell
Tuesday, September 29, 2026 6 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Join us to meet Jim Braswell, a Madison County native who embarked on adventure in 2009 that fulfilled a dream. He tells the tale of an amateur fossil enthusiast and paleontologist who grew up looking for fossils in the Huntsville area and ultimately found one of the world's most popular dinosaurs -- a Triceratops! This story does not end with finding the dinosaur; it only begins with the twist and turns and numerous threads that continue through today. This presentation will seek to provide context to the North Dakota environment 66 million years ago and the challenges posed by the environment today, while illustrating the long and winding road from a fossil to having it reach permanent display.
Jim is an engineer from Georgia Tech, a retiree from Torch Technologies, the current President of the Alabama Paleontological Society and even more of a fossil and dinosaur enthusiast than ever before!
