Unusual Art: Cigar Box Guitars

Think outside the frame with Unusual Art at the Downtown Huntsville Public Library.  Meet Jeff Mello, owner and chief luthier of The Cigar Box Guitar Store, located in Studio 106 at Lowe Mill.  Jeff is the lead juried artist and most of the guitars for sale in the store are built by him, including his "playable art" guitars from his Mad Sci Innovations brand.  You’ll learn how Jeff crafts this unique art as well as a little bit about the history of these instruments and why they all sound different. Attendees will have the opportunity to use loaner guitars and get a group lesson to learn how to play a few songs with just one or two fingers! No musical experience required.
