Airplane! (1980)
After an outbreak of food poisoning, disgraced pilot Ted Striker (Robert Hays) is back in the cockpit, fighting the odds to land a distressed plane in this classic send-up of disaster movies. (It is a near scene-for-scene remake of 1957's Zero Hour!) The all-star cast includes Julie Hagerty, Leslie Nielsen, Lloyd Bridges, Peter Graves, Robert Stack, Barbara Billingsly and NBA great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. The jokes come at you fast and furiously, so please remain seated during the entirety of the film. Surely, you will want to stay for the end credits scene.The film is noteworthy for giving long time screen heavy Leslie Nielsen a second career in comedy. Airplane! was Rated PG by the MPA according to the standards of 1980 and contains adult humor, adult language, adult themes and situations, gratuitous sight gags, gratuitous spoofing, gratuitous parodying, and gratuitous Saturday Night Fever flashback. The Auditorium opens at 6:00 p.m. and the movie begins at 6:30 p.m. Food and drink are allowed in the auditorium during the film. 88 minutes.
