Between the Lives
Sunday, June 14, 2026 2 p.m. – 3 p.m.
It's time to get real with these enduring real lives. Between the Lives is a book club for readers who enjoy autobiographies and memoirs. This month's pick is Educated by Tara Westover.
Tara Westover was 17 the first time she stepped into a classroom. Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, she was raised to be prepared for the end of the world, not how to survive within it. After one of her brothers went out and received a formal education, Tara decided to make her own way in life. By teaching herself enough about mathematics, science, and grammar, she passed the ACT and went to Brigham Young University. Her path towards an education was not always easy, but it allowed her to go further, navigating across the U.S. and over oceans, from Harvard to Cambridge. She never forgot where she came from and only hoped that there would always remain a way back home.
Tara Westover is an American memoirist, essayist and historian. Her memoir Educated (2018) debuted at No. 1 on The New York Times bestseller list and was a finalist for a number of national awards, including the Los Angeles Times Book Prize, PEN America's Jean Stein Book Award, and two awards from the National Book Critics Circle Award. The New York Times ranked Educated as one of the 10 Best Books of 2018. Westover was chosen by Time as one of the 100 most influential people of 2019.
